Kindred Project Harrisonburg meets every third Monday of the month at Asbury United Methodist Church in downtown Harrisonburg. We will not meet in July or August. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, September 15 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm in the Wesley Room. Our gathering has decided to explore various contemplative prayer disciplines led by a volunteer from the group. So far, we have explored lectio divina, visio divina, centering prayer, and the use of prayer beads. Other contemplative prayer forms will be explored in future gatherings as persons feel led to volunteer. Our gathering usually begins with a greeting, opening reflection, a brief introduction to a particular contemplative prayer discipline followed by 20 minutes of contemplative silence. During the silence, participants may choose to engage the prayer form or simply sit in contemplative silence. Some drawing supplies and blank paper are provided. Participants may choose to bring personal journals as well. After the time of silence, there is intentional conversation about our experience of the Divine during the time of silence. We close our gathering with the sharing of Holy Communion. Please contact Angie Nash at email@example.com or Rob Nash at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
